Sauveterre is a perfect base from which to discover all the best that
Provence has to offer.
For those who prefer to walk ,cycle or drive ,Mont Ventoux, the
Camargue ,the Luberon and the Alpilles provide a rich variety of scenery
Historic Provence offers the roman sites at Arles ,St Rémy (Glanum),
Vaison and of course the Pont du Gard .
Visit Les Baux de Provence a medieval village high on a hill, and the chateaux at
Tarascon and Beaucaire . Avignon's famous bridge and the old Pope's Palace as well
as its fine museums and restaurants is only a short drive from Sauveterre.

when the Papal court was in Avignon

The summer festivals of Avignon, Aix ,Orange ,Montpellier and La

Roque d'Anthéron are world famous ,but there are plenty of other small
festivals in the villages all round the region.
Who could come to France without sampling the exellent food and drink
on offer.The grands crus of Chateauneuf du Pâpe and the villages of Gigondas ,
Vaqueyras , are close by. Our neighbour makes excellent wiine too !
Provencal markets are exellent for buying the best of the local produce
(Tuesdays in Vaison ,Thursday in Orange or Villeneuve ,Fridays in
Carpentras) but remember that the markets are packed up and gone by 12.30pm.
Local specialities include André Boyer's nougat in the village of Sault
which is a centre for lavender production. Aix is famous for its Calissons 
and Avignon shops sell Papalines. Farm produce includes goat-cheese

and honey. Olives and Olive oil from Maussane in the Alpilles.....
